Information
A small family-run estate measuring just four hectares, Domaine Pichat is lauded for its deep and distinct wines. 2000 was a defining year for the family, as they began to sell their production.
Côte-Rôtie is one of the oldest appellations of the Northern Rhône Valley. Set on the steep slopes overlooking the Rhône, the area is traditionally divided into the “Côte Brune” and “Côte Blonde”, a nod to the legend of a lord dividing his lands between his two daughters. The appellation is renowned for its Syrah-based red wines. Le Champon is an iconic parcel in the northern sector of the appellation, within the commune of Ampuis. After manual harvests and strict sorting, the fruit ferments in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats with native yeasts during a long maceration of around three weeks. In the glass, the intense hue shows purplish highlights. The intense, refined nose is marked by black fruit, violet and black pepper, lifted by toasty and smoky notes. On the palate, a powerful yet silky attack reveals fine tannins, vibrant mineral freshness and a long, spicy finish.
