Information
Ribera del Duero, in the heart of Old Castile, is one of Spain’s most prestigious appellations. The region harbours Tempranillo vines that grow between 800 and 950 metres in altitude. The continental climate, marked by strong diurnal temperature shifts, promotes both full ripeness and aromatic freshness. Clay-limestone and sandy soils streaked with gravel naturally restrict the vines, resulting in low yields and exceptional aromatic and tannic concentration. After manual harvests, the grapes ferment in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats with native yeasts during a long maceration. Ageing follows in French oak barriques for 20 months, before additional refinement in bottle.
The wine shows an almost black garnet hue. The concentrated, elegant bouquet reveals ripe black fruit, sweet spice, dark chocolate and tobacco. On the palate, it is generous and structured, with dense yet silky tannins, leading into a long, persistent, gently wood-tinged finish.
