Information
Thibault Liger-Belair took over the family domaine of Nuits-Saint-Georges in 2002, giving it its name. The domaine has been in the family since the 18th century and the trading establishments C. Marey and Comte Liger-Belair have been in existence since 1720. The vineyard spreads over a little over 7 hectares in Richebourg, Vosne-Romanée, Clos-de- Vougeot, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Gevrey-Chambertin. The greatest care is taken of the vines which are worked organically. The wines have already reached a good standard and are one of the rising values of the region, offering wines which combine fine substance and finesse.
The parcels of Les Beaux Bruns and Les Fouchères, nestled in the heart of the Chambolle-Musigny terroir, lie on soils rich in brown clay mixed with limestone scree. This deep clay-limestone terroir allows Pinot Noir to achieve optimal phenolic ripeness, giving the wine fine tannic structure and vibrant fruit. In the winery, fermentation takes place spontaneously in stainless-steel vats. Gentle punch-downs and pump-overs extract colour and aroma without excess. The wine is then aged for 14 months in French oak casks, with minimal sulphur.
The wine shows an intense ruby hue. The refined nose reveals black cherry, raspberry and violet, alongside sweet spice, undergrowth and a faint chalky note. The palate offers a silky, airy texture, fine-grained yet present tannins, and a subtle balance of floral delicacy and fruit-driven depth.
