These unwavering standards are what sets Maison Jadot apart in Burgundy. With 225 hectares under vine and representation across 130 appellations, not only in the Côte d’Or but also in the Mâconnais and Beaujolais, wine lovers can expect genuine pleasure at every price level, always easily identifiable by the iconic Bacchus head on the label. The estate favours traditional winemaking methods, with slow fermentations and extended ageing. Chemical herbicides are prohibited and yields are strictly limited. The Clos des Ormes lies mid-slope on the eastern flank of the Morey hillside. The Pinot Noir vines enjoy south-east exposure, ensuring optimal sunlight. The clay-limestone soils, mixed with marl and stony scree, give the fruit both structure and depth while preserving freshness and a distinct mineral edge. Manual harvests are followed by careful sorting in the vineyard. Once in the winery, the grapes ferment in stainless-steel vats for 20 days with native yeasts naturally present on the berries. The wine is then aged for around 16 months in French oak casks, enhancing fruit elegance and terroir depth.
