Information
Set on the Corton Hill between Aloxe-Corton, Pernand-Vergelesses and Ladoix-Serrigny, the Corton-Charlemagne terroir is home to Chardonnay vines behind some of the most exceptional dry white wines in the world. Each vine benefits from optimal exposure thanks to south-west and south-east orientations at around 280 metres in altitude. The pale marl-limestone soils are highly pebbly and rich in fine clays. The grapes are hand-picked at primary ripeness and vinified with minimal intervention. Fermentation takes place with native yeasts to preserve the finesse and aromatic complexity of the fruit. The wine is then aged for 18 months in French oak casks, with measured stirring of the lees to build texture while enhancing mineral tension.
The wine reveals a pale gold hue with bright highlights. The intense, complex bouquet layers ripe citrus, apple, pear, hawthorn and honey with subtle smoky notes. The palate is broad, intense and chiselled, revealing a superb balance of richness and freshness.
