Information
The terroir of Gevrey-Chambertin, an iconic appellation of the Burgundian winegrowing landscape, is composed of marl and fractured limestone soils. These well-drained slopes give the Pinot Noir wines remarkable concentration, tannic structure and minerality. Manual harvests are followed by meticulous sorting in the vineyard and in the winery. The destalked grapes then macerate and ferment gently for around 15 days. The wine is subsequently aged in seasoned casks, with around 20% new oak, for around 12 months.
The wine displays a stunning garnet-red hue. The expressive, generous nose reveals black cherry, Morello cherry, blackcurrant and floral notes, lifted by sweet spice and undergrowth. On the palate, a broad attack opens onto a perfect balance of intense fruit and fine acidity, leading into a long, gently spiced quintessentially Burgundian persistent finish.
