Information
Alix and Etienne de Montille took over the family domaine located in Volnay which their father Hubert made famous. In addition to the family domain, the two brothers and sisters started a trading business: Deux Montille Soeur et Frère. The grapes are very carefully selected, and the winemaking and the élevage are given the same care as the domain. A great recommendation.
Puligny-Montrachet is one of the most prestigious villages of the Côte de Beaune, renowned for its great white wines based on Chardonnay, including an exceptional concentration of Premiers and Grands Crus. The Champsgains climat lies on a south-east-facing slope. The soils are shallow, well-drained clay-limestone with light marls, encouraging aromatic concentration and a mineral tension that brings both structure and elegance to the wine. Vinification is carried out with great precision. Manual harvests involve sorting in the vineyard. In the winery, gentle, progressive pressing is followed by careful settling of the must. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in French oak casks. Ageing lasts around 12 months, with regular lees stirring, allowing the wine to develop complexity, finesse and balance.
In the glass, the wine displays a pale yellow hue with golden highlights. The floral, citrus-driven nose reveals white flowers, pear, green apple and a touch of flintstone. On the palate, the attack is lively and fresh, carried by a remarkable mineral backbone that leads into a fruit-driven, persistent finish.
