Information
Chambolle-Musigny is renowned for producing some of the most delicate and refined Pinot Noir wines of the Côte de Nuits. The vines grow on shallow slopes consisting of clay-limestone soils, with chalky and pebbly patches that encourage drainage and aromatic concentration. The Mauffré-Truchot label is tied to the history of the Mauffré family and to winemaker Jacky Truchot. Since he gradually withdrew parcels before putting an end to his activity, his wines have become rare and are sometimes traded as collectors’ bottles. In the winery, the carefully harvested and sorted grapes are vinified using traditional Burgundian methods. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with native yeasts, with regular must pump-overs and cap-punching. The wine is then aged for 16 months in oak barriques.
In the glass, it reveals a light red hue, while the delicate nose carries raspberry, Morello cherry and floral notes. On the palate, a silky attack reveals ripe tannins lifted by fine acidity, leading into a saline, persistent finish.
