Intensity
Chardonnay from the Côte d’Or and Mâconnais are made into wine using two different methods to craft this rich, but perfectly balanced, cuvée.
More infoThis white Burgundy combines Chardonnay from the Côte de Beaune and the Hautes Côtes de Nuits, selected for their elegance and their minerality with grapes sold from southern Burgundy, from the heights of Mâconnais, adding their roundness and fruitiness to the wine. The Côte d’Or Chardonnay makes up 65% of the blend. It undergoes the typical Burgundy wine making process and matures for one to four years in oak barrels with regular lee stirring. The Mâconnais grapes are vinified and matured in stainless steel vats to conserve the freshness and the fruity notes.
Blending creates a pale wine with an expressive nose that contains notes of citrus fruits, white blossom and green apples enlivened by a hint of butter. Having been matured in barrels, a touch of vanilla can also be detected. On the palate, the wine is rich, fatty, but restrained by an acidity that brings freshness with it. Hazelnut notes can be found in the finish. This is a wine that will enhance fine meals such as sole meunière.

About the Producer Edouard Delaunay
Based in the Côte de Nuits, in the heart of Nuits-Saint-Georges, Maison Edouard Delaunay takes its name from its founder, who established it in 1893. Success came quickly, and wines were soon distributed by leading merchants and served in prestigious settings, from the French Senate to, more impressively still, the Palais de l’Élysée.
Although over time the Maison lost some of its prestige, Laurent Delaunay, one of the founder’s descendants, took on the challenge of restoring it to its former glory in 2017. Under his direction, an impressive portfolio of twenty-five appellations is vinified, including nine grands crus and eight premiers crus from the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune. Work in the winery is meticulous and guided by respect for the fruit, with the aim of avoiding excessive extraction to create refined wines that express their terroir and individual plots with clarity and finesse.
