Macvin du Jura François Rousset Martin

François Rousset-Martin presents an iconic cuvée from the Jura region: Macvin. This wine is made from 100% Savagnin grapes. The vines, spread over seven hectares, are located in Nevy-sur-Seille, on a pebbly soil composed of a mixture of clay and limestone. Traces of gray marls from the Bajocian period (Late Jurassic) can also be found in the soil. These lands are perfect for the flourishing of Savagnin, the emblematic grape variety of the Jura. François Rousset-Martin cultivates his vineyard with respect for the environment, although he does not claim any certifications in this regard. He bans all chemical fertilisers and inputs from his vines.
In the winery, Macvin is created by blending Savagnin must with pomace. François Rousset-Martin is careful not to add any sulphites to his cuvées. Finally, the Macvin is aged for five years in barrels.
On tasting, the wine reveals aromas of dried fruits, such as stewed prunes, and spices. On the palate, it delivers an explosion of flavours, offering a well-balanced and superbly round liquid.
