The wine
This Chassagne-Montrachet by Tête du Clos is made from old, vigorous vines on which the domain practices massal selection. The Chardonnay grapes soak up the nutrients needed for them to flower from soils that are particularly rich in pebbles and silt, all of which contribute to the creation of a wine that is persistent, powerful and perfect for ageing. This wine should be stored in the cellar for at least ten years to reach its full potential. It has a wonderful pale citrus-yellow colour with notes of white flowers, apples and fresh almonds. A lovely suppleness envelops the whole wine, making it persistent on the palate.
To create this cuvée, the winery has adopted a responsable growing method that takes full advantage of the soil and the specific characteristics of each parcel. As little intervention as possible is used in the cellar which is why the grapes arrive as healthy as possible.
About the Producer Armand Heitz
Armand Heitz comes from a family of wine négociants in the Côte de Beaune. In 2012, after completing a degree in oenology, he decided to return to the family property where he wished to bring the vine culture back to life. He now has 20 hectares to work with, alongside his brother-in-law Augustin Ceyrac who manages Domaine de la Combe Vineuse. Passionate about agronomy and about agriculture more broadly, Armand has decided to lean towards agro-ecology and regenerative agriculture in his production in order to ensure the protection of his vines and the quality of the resulting wine.
