More info

The old Pinot Noir vines, around sixty years old, climb on the legendary Hengst Grand Cru. The south-facing marl and limestone soils provide ideal ripening conditions for the grapes. In the winery, the Pinot Noir grapes are meticulously sorted and destalked. The fruit undergoes a 22-day maceration and fermentation period triggered by native yeasts naturally present on the berries. The cuvée is then carefully aged in oak barrels for 16 months before being bottled with great care.
The vibrant red colour reveals an expressive and bewitching bouquet with red and black fruit aromas such as blackcurrant enhanced by an incomparable freshness. The superb tannic structure melts into a smooth texture on the palate, delicately leading to a lingering, mouth-watering finish. This cuvée can easily be cellared for several years.

About the Producer Barmes-Buecher

Located in Wettolsheim, just a stone’s throw away from Colmar, the domain was formed in 1985 when François Barmès and Geneviève Buecher got married and united their family plots. Now run by Geneviève and her children, Sophie and Maxime, the domain produces wines from an array of local varieties. The vines grow on terroirs whose individual personalities come through into the wine.
