What makes this wine special?
A wonderful white wine from Monthélie giving freshness, density and elegance through authentic aromas of white flowers and lemon.
More infoLocated in Burgundy, the Monthélie appellation is best known historically for its red wines, however, some Premiers Crus, such as Sur la Velle, a parcel ideally exposed to the east and located just below the Volnay vineyards, delivers exceptional Chardonnay wines. This high-altitude terroir lies on well-drained, stony clay-limestone soils, which constrain the vines and promote minerality and finesse. The grapes are harvested by hand, gently pressed in whole bunches and fermented naturally in old barrels with indigenous yeasts. The wine is aged for 15 months in oak barrels, containing a small proportion of new wood, followed by ageing in vats to preserve the tension.
The wine is a pale, clear golden colour with flashes of silver. The nose is fine and crisp with notes of white flowers, lemon zest, warm stones and fresh hazelnuts. The lively, chiselled palate reveals a mineral structure, beautiful concentration and a mouthwatering, slightly chalky finish.
About the Producer Rémi Jobard
★ Partner ProducerThe Jobard family has been producing wine in Meursault for many generations. In 1993, Rémi Jobard took over from his father Charles (he had already made his first vintage in 1991). The vineyard has been organic since 2005, certified since 2011 (conversion started in 2008). Rémi Jobard is a very talented winemaker, making delicate, smooth and supple Meursaults, which age with class and whose élevage is always neatly carried out. This area is one of the best of the appellation.
