More info

Hahnenberg Cuvée Olympe Pinot Noir is crafted from vines rooted in soils rich in granite, oolitic limestone, and pink and yellow sandstone. These vines thrive between Strasbourg and Colmar, at the border of Bas-Rhin and Haut-Rhin. At an altitude of 230 to 280 metres, the 30-year-old vines enjoy an eastern exposure on the slopes of the Haut-Koenigsbourg hills. Here, the vines are pruned short and the grapes are manually harvested at peak ripeness. Julien Klein champions a sustainable and environmentally conscious viticulture, banning chemical inputs. The estate holds an organic farming certification.
In the winery, the traditional vinification methods are low-interventionist. The wines are aged up to 24 months depending on the vintages. The Hahnenberg Cuvée Olympe is a tender and harmonious Pinot Noir, offering an elegant balance that will reward patience.

About the Producer Julien Klein

A real ‘child of the region’, the son of cooperative winegrowers, he established his estate in Kintzheim in 2017. Winemaker, artisan and farmer in the truest sense of the terms, he puts a great deal of energy into his work in the vineyard, reducing intervention to a minimum in the winery. There, everything is done by hand and foot! Little machinery is used between the rows of vines and the paths are well grassed. The pruning is kept short, the harvest is carried out by hand, and the grape varieties are perfectly suited to the terroir and each parcel. Certified organic and closely attuned to natural winemaking practices, his wines spend two years in the cellar before being bottled. Each bottle produced captures all the richness and complexity of his terroirs, all the history of his localities, all the freshness of his grapes, and all the delicacy of his vines.
The freshness and frankness of his wines have caught the attention of the French magazine La Revue du Vin de France, who have included him, along with 14 others, in their ‘winemakers to watch’ for 2025. So, follow the guide!
