The wine
The Hermitage appellation is one of the jewels of the southern Rhône Valley. Spanning the communes of Tain-l’Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage and Larnage, it is famed for its powerful, gastronomic reds crafted from Syrah. The parcels of Syrah behind this cuvée are planted on the granite slopes of the Hermitage Hill, characterised by decomposed granite, gneiss, micaschist and alluvial pebbles. Harvesting is entirely by hand, with meticulous sorting of the grapes in the winery. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats, followed by traditional ageing in oak casks for around 18 months.
The wine displays a vibrant ruby-red hue. The nose opens with dark fruits such as blackberry and blackcurrant, joined by violet and evolving notes of leather, undergrowth and sweet spices as it evolves with age. The palate is dense and firmly structured, with powerful yet refined tannins, a vibrant saline freshness and impressive length.
