23ème édition Krug
The wine
The 23rd Edition of Krug Rosé embodies Krug’s ambition to share its unique vision of rosé Champagne with passionate enthusiasts. Like Krug Grande Cuvée, it transcends the notion of vintage. Bold and surprising, this champagne offers an aromatic palette that is rare for a rosé.
Born of a fifth-generation Krug family vision, each year sees the launch of a new Edition of Krug Rosé, such as the 23rd Edition, created from the 2011 harvest, which was characterised by unusual weather conditions, resulting in the earliest harvest since 1822.
This edition’s blend combines Pinot Noirs from the current year with reserve wines from nine other vintages, mainly from the Meunier variety. The reserve wines, sourced from Krug’s extensive library, make up 56% of the blend.
With its delicate orange colour, this 23rd Edition reveals aromas of cherry, raspberry, blood orange and fresh lemony notes. On the palate, generosity comes through clearly, with complexity and rose flavours, with a long persistence resulting from the blend of around 10% red wine. Krug Rosé 23rd Edition is the perfect partner for gastronomic discoveries. It complements the most delicious dishes, such as foie gras, lamb or game, with grace, depth and generosity.
About the Producer Krug
When Johann-Joseph Krug founded Maison Krug in 1843, he dreamed of attaching his name to a unique Champagne. He set one simple rule – never cut corners. Today, six generations later, he would be proud of the stubborn perfectionism that still rules the creation and development of his Champagne. Krug is one of the few Champagne houses to only produce prestige cuvées. The worldwide reputation of this outstanding Champagne is based on a rare expertise that combines patience with excellence. The rigorous selection process begins with choosing the three varieties that will go into the complex blends created at Krug. Krug is also the only top brand to fully ferment it Champagnes in small oak barrels. It is this delicate process that creates wines with intense aromas and rich and complex tastes. Finally, as a model case in Champagne, Krug ages its wines for a minimum of 6 to 8 years. The reward for this is exceptional maturity and longevity. Krug Champagnes are one-of-a-kind, standing out above all others and at the peak of what Champagne can be.
