Hemel en Haarde Storm Vrede Chardonnay 2018

The wine

Storm Vrede, made from Chardonnay grapes, is a wonderful expression of the unique Hemel-en-Aarde terroir in South Africa. This wine comes from soils rich in Bokkeveld shale, located on northern slopes. Grapes are harvested by hand to ensure optimal quality and vinification is characterised by minimal intervention to preserve the authenticity of the terroir. The grapes are fermented using 50% malolactic fermentation, adding extra complexity to the wine before it is aged in oak barrels, developing delicate aromas of lemon and almond croissants.
It presents a silky texture, vibrant acidity and mineral notes, reminiscent of the great Chardonnays of Puligny-Montrachet. This bottle stands out for its freshness and precision - with floral, passion fruit and citrus aromas and a subtle hint of marzipan. This bottle is an ideal choice to accompany fish or white meat dishes or desserts with an apple base.
