More info

In 1989, Alexandre Gabriel discovered Maison Ferrand, a very high quality Maison de cognac, but with limited sales. It was love at first sight and Alexandre was then fervently introduced to the specifics of cognac. He travelled to the four corners of the earth to set up his distribution network. In the 1990's he went in search of the best rums of the Caribbean and ended up creating Plantation, his own range of local rums. This work was rewarded fifteen years later when he was elected the worldwide Master Rum Blender of the Year in 2012 and won the prestigious Golden Barrel Award. The site of Maison Ferrand is located in the heart of Cognac, at Château Bonbonnet. As well as rum, the group produces gin, cognac, curacao, calvados, Armagnac and vodka. Today, Maison Ferrand is still owned by Alexandre Gabriel, centred around the great spirits which are cognac, gin and rum. It produces the terroir’s great local spirits, expressing all their diversity. Alexandre Gabriel has been able to establish ties of loyalty and mutual trust with local distilleries and has perfected the art of aging in barrels. This Maison’s entire production is of a very high level.
Plantation rums, from the Caribbean, are distributed in more than 40 countries. The double aging method is used for their élevage: the rum is aged in the Caribbean in American oak barrels, then, after a few years, the rum is transferred to France, to Château Bonbonnet in the heart of Cognac, where it is then aged in French oak barrels. This Maison is famous for the balance of its rums which stand out thanks to their character, elegance and complexity.
This rum is a blend of several rums from Barbados, aged for eight to ten years and selected by Alexandre Gabriel, then refined in small cognac barrels for two to ten years. It stands out thanks to its spicy notes and indulgence on the palate.
