About the Producer Yarra Yering Vineyards
The domaine was established by two brothers from Scotland in the mid-nineteenth century in the Yarra Valley, in Victoria State, Australia. The word station reflects its origins as a livestock ranch. At the 1889 Universal Exhibition in Paris, Yering Station's wine was one of just fourteen non-French domaines to be awarded a prize. A century later, the domaine was sold to the Rathbone family, who made the transition from agriculture to viticulture and now runs the domaine with their unique blend of passion and drive. Yarra Valley soil rests on a clay base, in low hilly terrain. Compared to the rest of Australia, this area boasts a temperate climate which is suitable for growing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
