Marsannay Domaine du Couvent 2021

Clos du Roy is one of Marsannay’s most iconic climats. The Pinot Noir vines located in the north of the appellation at an altitude of around 300 metres were first planted in the 13th century. The parcel is divided into two distinct blocks with an easterly exposure. The first section, which accounts for around a quarter of the vines and is located on a gentle slope in the lower part of the climat, stands on marl soils. The other section climbs on a strong incline. Once harvested, the grapes are meticulously sorted and transferred into vats with a small portion in whole bunches. Alcoholic fermentations are triggered naturally and following by a gently and slow extraction process. The cuvée is then carefully aged in barrels before being bottled.
The intense red colour reveals an expressive bouquet characterised by notes of red and black fruit. The generous and fresh palate reveals an array of delicious aromas complemented by a mineral structure, leading to a persistent and delicious finish.
