A truly gastronomic Champagne marked by an ample texture and a complex aromatic bouquet. A superb illustration of the region’s Pinot Meunier.
More infoThis Extra-Brut Champagne owes its name to its original Pinot Meunier plot. Vinified in single parcel oak barrels, this cuvée was aged for 7 years in the cellar. To taste, it turns out to be the perfect expression of its grape variety as proven by its intensely golden-yellow colour, and its aromatic bouquet marked by gentle spices (vanilla, white pepper), dried apricot and butter. The palate, ample and persistent, is just as complex through its flavours of truffle, smoke, quince, caramel and vanilla. This Champagne is therefore undoubtedly a gastronomic wine.
About the Producer Xavier Leconte
Xavier Leconte was founded in 1870. Alexis Leconte has managed the domain since 2003, representing the sixth generation of the family. The vineyard is made up of forty or so small parcels in the villages of Troissy, Dormans, Mareuil-le-Port, Vandières and Aÿ. The vineyard has been certified of high environmental value since 2014. The winemaker finds inspiration in biodynamic viticulture, for instance following the lunar calendar. The champagnes are vinified in oak barrels (25%) and stainless-steel vats (75%).
