An authentic and extremely pleasing fruity white wine, showcasing the best qualities of Chenin Blanc.
More infoHélène and Guillaume lovingly craft a 100% Chenin cuvée from grapes sourced in the Terrasses du Larzac appellation. Monovarietal Chenin wines are not authorised in the appellation. As a result, the couple produce their cuvée as a Vin de France. The estate follows organic farming practices to preserve the harmonious and essential balance between humans and vines. The harvest is entirely undertaken manually, to preserve the quality of the raw material. Once in the winery, the grapes ferment naturally in wood. Lastly, the cuvée is aged in barrels and demi-muids (big barrels) for eighteen months and bottled without fining or filtration.
The pale bright colour reveals an exquisite bouquet, characterised by ripe pear and melon aromas combined with a subtle touch of hazelnuts. The crunchy full-bodied palate delicately leads to a delicious and lively finish.
About the Producer Le Clos de la Barthassade
These two thirty-somethings arrived in Languedoc in 2013 after having studied in Burgundy and Provence.
Clos de la Barthassade stretches over 13 hectares and the vines are separated into blocks. Syrah, Mourvèdre, Grenache Noir, Cinsault and Chardonnay all grow here as well as one surprise - Chenin! To amplify the unique soils found on the property, Hélène and Guillaume follow organic and biodynamic practices. Vinification is as natural as possible and they only use natural yeasts to make the wine. Since their first vintage in 2014, a significant number of wines lovers have fallen in love with their unique wines.
