The Régnié Montmerrond cuvée is a single plot cuvée, produced from Gamay vines that thrive on shallow, very stony granite soil. The plot covering just over one hectare is meticulously tended in accordance with organic viticultural principles. The vines, on average 60 years old, thrive in the locality of Montmerond. The harvested Gamay grapes are vatted by gravity and fermented naturally with native yeasts. After a gentle horizontal pressing, the wine is matured in eight-year-old Burgundy casks on fine lees for ten months. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration.
The ruby-red colour offers a captivating nose revealing aromas of peony, spices and white pepper. The intense and generous palate is enriched by aromas of ripe fruit combined with a subtle acidity leading to a delicate and flavoursome finish.
