Nestling in the heart of the village of Andlau, the Gewurztraminer vines grow on rich, complex soils, mainly consisting of granite sand alluvium. The vineyards are entirely tilled by the estate’s draught horse. All chemical fertilisers and weedkillers are prohibited to favour a gentler, more environmentally friendly approach to viticulture, following biodynamic principles. The carefully hand-picked Gewurztraminer grapes are left to macerate in whole bunches. The flavoursome, authentic aromas of the cuvée are perfected during a long, precise ageing period in demi-muids.
The orangey colour reveals a seductive bouquet of delicate peony aromas mingling beautifully with hints of tobacco. Delicate tannins create a unique structure on the palate. This cuvée can easily be cellared for a decade.
