More info

Nestling among the picturesque vineyards of the Jura, Domaine Fumey-Chatelain makes wines that capture the essence of its exceptional terroir. Founded in the 1980s by Raphael Fumey and Adeline Chatelain, the estate covers 17 hectares of vines between Montigny and Arbois.
This red Arbois, going by the unusual name of Brouille Ménage, exudes a nose of butter, orange peel and banana. On the palate, it shows aromas of quince, sour cherry and blackcurrant.
This is one of the wines that the estate makes from a blend of old Ploussard vines, planted between 1952 and 1970 on Jura’s marl soils. The grapes are delicately harvested by hand, then macerated for 20 days before 10 months’ ageing, mostly in large barrels and partly in stainless steel vats, to preserve their delicate character.
White meats in sauces or spicy dishes are the perfect match for this wine.

About the Producer Fumey-Chatelain

The story of this Jura estate started with Raphaël and Adeline, who initially cultivated just half a hectare of vines and sold their grapes to the cooperative. In the spring of 1991, a devastating frost destroyed most of the Jura vineyards. This major turning point marked the start of a new chapter for the couple. Instead of selling their small crop of grapes, they decided to make their own wines with them, using the equipment of winemaker friends to produce their first vintage. The family business flourished and the couple acquired a charming farm in Montigny-lès-Arsures in 1999. Now with a vineyard boasting over 17 hectares of vines, they have been joined by their son, Marin. He has radically changed the estate’s practices and style of wines, converting the vineyard to organic winegrowing and introducing plot-based and natural winemaking techniques. Today, the wines are already of a high standard and this estate is a gem to watch closely!
