Meursault 1er Cru Charmes Chanson 2012

The wine

An iconic and historic Burgundy estate that has seduced many personalities over the centuries, Chanson brings us this Meursault from the Charmes Premier Cru. This is a fairly well-known area situated to the south of the commune, alongside the no less famous village of Puligny-Montrachet. The Chardonnay vines flourish here, perfectly exposed, benefiting from an oceanic climate with a semi-continental influence. They draw the nutrients they require from soils rich in clay and limestone, two elements that undeniably contribute to shaping wines that are both full-bodied and delicate.
In the winery, the winemaking process involves thirteen months’ ageing in oak casks. Designed for cellaring for around ten years, the wine displays a beautiful yellow colour with golden tints developing over time. A fat disk hints at the wine’s generous flavour, offering a variety of notes of white fruit, dried fruit, vanilla and fresh butter. On the palate, a delicate woodiness promises pleasant pairings with poultry or fish in creamy sauce, or cheese specialities.

About the Producer Chanson

Located in Beaune, the Chanson Père et Fils house was founded in 1750 by Simon Verry. It was then taken over by Nicolas Chanson in the 19th century, who developed the house’swinemaking activity and gave it its current name. It was purchased in 1999 by the Bollinger group; the vineyard now spans 45 hectares. The vines are grown organically, and the soils tilled; in the winery, a high proportion of stems is retained. The wines (especially reds) are of great quality and amply reward cellaring.
