Intensity
Quite a powerful, peppery and sharp wine with the distinctive wild fruit qualities typical of a Corbières. It is also very low in sulphur, almost natural.

The wine
La Mariole is aged in vats and very low in sulphites (15 milligrams/litre), so it is almost a natural wine. The nose evokes a basket of wild fruits (blackberry, blackcurrant, blueberry) and the palate is full, supple, fresh and sharp. It will soften a little if transferred to a carafe.
About the Producer Legodar
Formerly known as Grand Lauze, Domaine Ledogar was taken over in 1998 by sons Xavier and Mathieu, eschewing the local co-operative in favour of an individual operation. Organic certification was obtained in 2009, but the Ledogars also try to embrace biodynamic principles. Lunar cycles are followed, ploughing is done by horses and donkeys, and in the summer time, "home-made compost" – made from cow dung and grape pomace – is spread. Two-thirds of the vineyards are planted with Carignan and Grenache, with vine ages between 60 and 120 years. A very promising domain for this young local Boutenac wine!
