Roussillon | 2013 vintage
In Roussillon, 2013 is a high-quality vintage for both red and white wines, even more so than in the Languedoc. It is easy to forget how much the image of wines produced along the Mediterranean is associated with reds, but Roussillon has a number of white vineyard parcels and has been producing some of the best white wines in the south, even France, for more than ten years now. 2013 has been a particularly successful year, producing fully mature wines with a fresh structure and an exceptional aromatic quality. Red wines are not to be outdone either. With their equally fresh quality, a refined body and slightly lower alcohol levels (1° below the average), these wines are particularly light and easy to drink.
Even though harvests were much later here, the crop was in an excellent condition. However, as in most parts of France, yields were significantly lower than average.
