Founded in 1895, Gordon & MacPhail is without a doubt one of the most famous independent bottlers in Scotland. What marks it out from all the others is not its age, nor its privileged location in the heart of Speyside, but its complete control over maturation. The only bottler to fill its own carefully selected casks within the distilleries themselves, Gordon & MacPhail has continued its search for excellence in the subtle art of maturation for more than 25 years.

A single malt distilled in 1873 and bottled in the late 1980s by Scottish independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail. A small batch version from a single, unnamed distillery, aged for 15 years with a strong sherry cask influence. Imported to France by SNPA. Bottle equipped with a gold screw cap.The Macphail’’s range featured various different ages (5-50 years), vintages (1938-1973) and degrees (40-60.5%), in single malt and pure malt versions.The distilleries used were never revealed, leading to an abundance of rumours and speculation. Gordon & MacPhail released a large number of bottlings throughout the 1980s. The last was the Macphail’’s Christmas Malt 10 Year Old launched in 2004-2005.
