Renowned Belgian photographer and wine enthusiast Bernard Van Berg changed the course of his life in the early 2000s, settling in Meursault with his wife Judith to devote himself to winemaking. There, he took over a two-hectare vineyard planted with Chardonnay, Aligoté, Pinot Noir and Gamay, including vines dating back to 1950. The vineyard has been farmed organically, certified since 2008, without fertilisers or plant protection products. The vines are tended like a small garden, with the soils ploughed by horse. Naturally, yields are extremely low. The same natural approach continues in the winery, where there is no destemming, no added yeasts or enriching, and sulphur additions are kept to an absolute minimum. The wines are aged in new casks.

A former photographer, this passionate winemaker decided to craft the wine of his dreams. From the vines to the cellars, each step has been carefully thought out to produce ‘the simplest wine’, as he calls it. The plots, cultivated with the greatest respect for the environment and biodiversity, are entirely hand harvested. The fruit is then carefully sorted in the vineyard and carefully transported to the winery. This small production of Pinot Noir is vinified as a white wine and aged in new barrels before bottling.
The slightly bright colour reveals an intensely fruity bouquet. With its scents of red fruit and grape juice, this wine transports us to the heart of the harvest period. The delicate, tannic structure on the palate gives way to a fresh, refined and delicious finish. This cuvée promises to be delightful after a long ageing period.
