    About the producer

Jean-Philippe Marchand’s domain was founded in 1813, in the heart of the iconic Burgundian commune of Morey-Saint-Denis. Pierre Marchand and his wife Marie Jacotier meticulously nurtured the domain’s vines. More than 7 generations of passionate winegrowers succeeded one another at the head of the property. Today, the vineyard covers 40 hectares of vines planted with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, the region’s leading grape varieties. The vines, averaging 40 years of age, are cultivated with the utmost respect for the land and biodiversity. The winemaker strictly adheres to sustainable farming practices to allow the terroir to express its full potential. After harvesting the grapes entirely by hand, vinification is carried out with minimal intervention and sulphur is added in minute quantities. It is in this serene context that the vineyard brings Burgundy’s terroir and grape varieties to the fore.

    About the wine

Situated on the eastern slope of the Côte de Nuits, the Charmes-Chambertin appellation benefits from clay-limestone soils rich in marl and silt. This ideal terroir allows the old vines, often over a century old, to produce Pinot Noir grapes of remarkable concentration and complexity. The winemaking process here is traditional and respectful of the grapes, starting with a careful hand harvest. The Pinot Noir grapes are destemmed and undergo spontaneous fermentation in wooden vats. The cuvée then undergoes a well-mastered ageing process in oak casks before being bottled.
This red wine unveils a dazzling ruby hue.
The nose reveals a bouquet of ripe black fruits, with aromas of cherry and raspberry, enriched by spicy notes and a hint of undergrowth. The palate is rich and velvety, with silky tannins and a balanced acidity that reveals a remarkable freshness. The finish is long and persistent, with distinct mineral notes.
