    About the producer

Jean-Philippe Marchand’s domain was founded in 1813, in the heart of the iconic Burgundian commune of Morey-Saint-Denis. Pierre Marchand and his wife Marie Jacotier meticulously nurtured the domain’s vines. More than 7 generations of passionate winegrowers succeeded one another at the head of the property. Today, the vineyard covers 40 hectares of vines planted with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, the region’s leading grape varieties. The vines, averaging 40 years of age, are cultivated with the utmost respect for the land and biodiversity. The winemaker strictly adheres to sustainable farming practices to allow the terroir to express its full potential. After harvesting the grapes entirely by hand, vinification is carried out with minimal intervention and sulphur is added in minute quantities. It is in this serene context that the vineyard brings Burgundy’s terroir and grape varieties to the fore.

    About the wine

Nestled on clay-limestone soils, the Pinot Noir vines thrive in a favourable microclimate, growing along slopes that are ideally exposed to the south-east. Les Lavrottes, although less renowned than some of the other Chambolle premier crus, produces wines of exceptional finesse and remarkable elegance, shaped by a long and rich winemaking history. The winemaking process begins with a hand harvest of the Pinot Noir grapes. After destemming, the berries ferment in vats before being aged for 12 to 18 months in oak barrels, including a proportion of new wood.
This cuvée presents a radiant ruby colour. The nose is complex, offering aromas of cherry, raspberry, and floral notes of violet, complemented by delicate spices. On the palate, it is velvety, with fine tannins and a lovely acidity, offering a harmonious balance. The finish is long and elegant, with distinct fruity and floral notes.
