About the wine
Aikan is a blended Scotch rather unusually matured first in Scotland for three years, then in Martinique in JM rum casks and French new oak casks. With 10,700 bottles of this edition released, the brand purposefully plays on the paradox of the angels’’ share. The angels’’ share in Scotland is at most 2%, while in the Caribbean leads to over 10% evaporation per year. Rums are often sent to Europe to reduce losses, but this whisky made the journey in reverse in tribute to the benefits of ageing in a tropical climate.
