Information
This wine was produced in the Ribeira Sacra region in southwestern part of Galicia with 95% Mencía and 5% Vidueño. The vines are around 60 years old and grow on slate soil rich in clay, in a lot that is unique to Seoane located in the Doade d’Amandi region. The vineyard is southwest facing and is perched at around 500 metres. The grapes are hand-harvested and macerate with the skin for 20 days. The fermentation process uses the native yeast without any temperature control. After malolactic fermentation in French oak casks, the cuvée is matured for a year in barrels without racking off the lees.
Aromas of berries mixed with hints of spice fill the air as soon as the bottle is opened. More subtle notes of minerals evoke the terroir where the grapes were cultivated. The finish is pleasant and long, yet fresh and fruity. The vibrant tannins bring a structure and a velvety texture, for a well-rounded finish.
This fresh Galician wine, with its fruit-forward notes, pairs perfectly with grilled meats and spicy dishes.
