Information
Domaine Roche de Bellene was created in 2005 by Nicolas Potel after the purchase of several plots of vines ranging from Santenay to Vosne Romanée. The vines are aged from 50 to 110 years old and are grown organically. The domaine then launched a trading business under the name of Roche de Bellene which is discussed here.
Griotte-Chambertin, set in the heart of the legendary Gevrey-Chambertin commune, is among the rarest and most coveted jewels of the Côte de Nuits Grand Crus. This terroir is rooted in shallow, stony clay-limestone soils at the foot of the hillside, offering excellent drainage. These characteristics promote slow ripening of the grapes and exceptional aromatic concentration, while preserving finesse and tension. The grapes are collected at optimal ripeness and are largely destemmed before being fermented using traditional methods with light punching down. The wine is aged for approximately 18 months in French oak barrels and is bottled unfiltered.
The glass shows a deep ruby-red colour with purple hues. The nose reveals seductive notes of morello cherry, wild strawberry, violet, orange peel, liquorice and undergrowth. The elegant and velvety palate exhibits fine tannins, superb purity of fruit, crisp acidity and a remarkably long finish.
