Côtes-du-Forez 2021
Information
The Côtes-du-Forez appellation, recognised in 2000, is one of the Loire Valley’s most discreet yet distinctive wine regions. Situated on the foothills of the Massif Central, it is the southernmost vineyard in the Loire Valley. The vines are planted at elevations of 400 to 600 metres on volcanic hills formed several million years ago where the soils are composed primarily of basalt, gabbro and pumice. The grapes are vinified in a traditional, low-intervention way.
The wine displays a clear, brilliant ruby hue with a delicate translucency, reflecting its natural finesse. The highly expressive nose reveals aromas of morello cherry, raspberry and violet, enriched by spicy notes and underpinned by a smoky mineral character. Fluid and lively on the first sip, the palate is driven by vibrant acidity. Light-bodied, juicy and fresh, it is supported by fine tannins and mineral tension that carries the finish with precision.?
