Information
The Barolo appellation, officially recognised in 1966, is a symbol of Piedmont, one of Italy’s most iconic wine regions. Its legacy stretches back to the 19?? century, thanks to visionaries such as Camillo Benso di Cavour. The Vigna Rionda locality in Serralunga d’Alba is among the most celebrated climats in Barolo. Planted in 1946, facing due south at an altitude of 355 metres, it rests on limestone soils that impart remarkable tension. Grapes are hand-harvested in mid-October and rigorously sorted in the vineyard. Fermentation lasts 28 days, punctuated by regular punch-downs, followed by around 36 months of ageing in Slavonian oak casks.
The ruby-red hue is elevated by garnet glints. The floral, fruit-laden nose offers red and black fruit notes complemented by a mentholated balsamic touch. The rich, generous palate is enriched by firm tannins leading to a persistent, complex and gently spiced finish.
