Information
Created by Jean-Luc Aegerter, this Burgundian house was then inherited by his son Paul. The two share a passion for nature, which guides them in producing top-quality wines. Situated in the Côte d'Or, in Nuits-Saint-Georges, the domain is nowadays expertly managed by Paul, who has brought his energy, taking the house's output off the beaten track to produce wines for enophile from all walks of life.
The Premier Cru Rue de Chaux, named after the small lane leading to the hamlet of Chaux, lies in a secluded part of the Hautes-Côtes. Its vines grow on an isolated parcel of brown limestone soils, directly adjacent to the Les Plateaux climat. The south-facing exposure ensures optimal ripening. Grapes are harvested and carefully sorted by hand, then fully destalked before a two-day cold pre-fermentation maceration in stainless steel vats. Fermentation continues in oak casks with regular punch-downs over a two-week period. The wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, with about 30% new wood.
In the glass, it shows a deep cherry-red hue. The nose reveals a generous aromatic palette of dark fruits and stone fruits, lifted by delicate hints of undergrowth and gentle spices. On the palate, the structure is firm yet beautifully balanced, with a smooth, elegant texture supported by fine-grained tannins, leading to a long, silky and harmonious finish.
