Why should the Vino di Contrada range be restricted to only red wines? This is a question that the winemaker herself asked us. And the answer lies in an outstanding plot at an altitude of 490 metres in the Hyblaean Mountains: Santa Margherita.

More info

This wine is the latest to be released by Arianna Occhipinti as part of its Vino di Contrada range and aims to place the only white variety, Grillo (which is also called Riddu in Sicily), growing in the plot under the spotlight. It is the result of a lot of hard work in the Hyblaean Mountains at an altitude of 490 metres in the ancient village of Chiaramonte Gulfi. Surrounded by forests of pine, oaks and centuries-old olive trees, the vines planted in the Santa Margherita plot grow in sandy and limestone soils.
Fermentation is started by indigenous yeasts and the winemaker leaves the wine to macerate with the grape skins for 48 hours. It is then aged in oak barrels for about 12 months.
You will adore this wine with its great aromatic intensity, citrus fruit and white floral notes, and its saline finish. Where freshness and character come together.

About the Producer Azienda Agricola Arianna Occhipinti

Arianna Occhipinti is a media star. At just 34 years of age, she has carved out a name for herself in the Italian wine world, and is the go-to name for biodynamic management in Sicily. Although she studied oenology at the rather technically-focused University of Milan, Arianna has never lost sight of the traditional teachings of her uncle whose small vineyard she inherited. Today, the domaine has expanded to 18 hectares, and Arianna Occhipinti is in regular contact with Nicolas Joly... great minds think alike!
