More info

While Beaujolais is best known for its red wines crafted from Gamay, the Beaujolais Blanc appellation has existed since 1937 and centrers on Chardonnay, which accounts for around 5% of the vineyard area. The vines are rooted in clay-limestone soils mixed with decomposed granite. Manual harvests are involve small crates to preserve the integrity of the berries. Once in the winery, the fruit is pressed directly and undergoes spontaneous fermentation at controlled temperatures. The wine is then aged in stainless-steel vats to retain freshness and purity.
In the glass, the wine shows a pale yellow hue with silvery glints. The expressive nose reveals generous aromas of white flowers such as hawthorn and acacia, complemented by subtle notes of fresh citrus, pear and a light buttered nuance. On the palate, a lively, precise attack is balanced by fine mineral tension. Crunchy white fruit flavours carry through to a gently saline, supple and refreshing finish.

About the Producer Domaine des Marrans - J-J- L. & M.Mélinand

The story of the domain began in 1970, when Jean-Jacques Mélinand bought 4 hectares of vines from Clos du Pavillon in Fleurie. The property continued to grow, and soon the vats were too small for the amount of grapes produced. The domain now covers five appellations: Fleurie, Beaujolais, Beaujolais-Villages, Chiroubles and Morgon. The domain has been managed by Jean-Jacques’ son Matthieu since 2009.
