A granite-tinged Gamay combining floral elegance and bright red fruit, with a juicy, lively palate.
More infoFleurie, one of the most renowned crus of Beaujolais, is known for producing floral, silky and elegant Gamay wines. The vines thrive on slopes resting on granite soils at around 350 metres altitude, which impart floral finesse, vibrant acidity and a distinctive mineral edge to the wines. In the vineyard, manual harvests involve small crates. The fruit then undergoes semi-carbonic maceration, with spontaneous fermentation driven by native yeasts. The wine is subsequently aged briefly in vat.
The wine displays a pale, clear hue with bright highlights. The expressive nose reveals intense aromas of small red berries such as strawberry and raspberry, alongside floral notes of violet and peony, with a touch of spice. On the palate, a clean attack leads into a juicy core supported by refreshing acidity and fine yet present tannins, carrying through to a vibrant, appetising finish.
About the Producer Domaine des Marrans - J-J- L. & M.Mélinand
The story of the domain began in 1970, when Jean-Jacques Mélinand bought 4 hectares of vines from Clos du Pavillon in Fleurie. The property continued to grow, and soon the vats were too small for the amount of grapes produced. The domain now covers five appellations: Fleurie, Beaujolais, Beaujolais-Villages, Chiroubles and Morgon. The domain has been managed by Jean-Jacques’ son Matthieu since 2009.
