Intensity
A Cycladic red shaped by volcanic soils, combining Mediterranean intensity with saline freshness through black fruit and spice aromatics.
More infoAuguste is named after Avgoustiatis, the indigenous Greek variety from which it is entirely produced. The vines stand on the foothills of Mount Karvounis, and the wine is crafted from two distinct parcels. The Cyclades, the volcanic archipelago of the Aegean Sea, have harboured vines since antiquity. They are traditionally pruned and woven into low basket-like wreaths sitting on the ground, to shield grapes from strong winds and intense sun. In the winery, vinification takes place in 500-litre casks and ovoid concrete vats. The unfined, unfiltered wine is bottled by gravity.
The intense ruby hue suggests an expressive bouquet. The nose delivers red and black fruit aromas accented by Mediterranean herbs, sweet spice and a light smoky touch. On the palate, a generous, silky attack reveals notable density. Fine tannins and saline freshness balance the wine’s ripe fruit, leading into an elegant, persistent finish with spicy and mineral nuances.
