An amber Dominican rum aged in coffee-toasted casks, revealing cocoa and vanilla notes with a suave, elegant and persistent palate.
More infoThis rum from Brugal is an ode to Dominican craftsmanship and the country’s passion for coffee. Founded in 1888 in Puerto Plata, Brugal, pioneer of Dominican rum, blends family tradition with innovation. This bold cuvée is born from the tropical climate and fertile soils where sugarcane thrives, producing rich, aromatic molasses. Its originality lies in the use of virgin French oak casks toasted with real Dominican Arabica beans, which lend the rum subtle roasted notes. After carefully managed fermentation, the spirit undergoes pure column distillation followed by meticulous tropical ageing.
This rum reveals an amber hue elevated by subtle mahogany glints. The nose is intense, combining coffee, cocoa and vanilla with indulgent caramel notes. On the palate, a broad, smooth and persistent profile leads gently into a long, fragrant and moreish finish.
About the Producer Brugal
Brugal was founded by Don Andrés Brugal Montaner in 1888 in Puerto Plata on the north-east coast of the Dominican Republic. Brugal, who was originally from Spain, spent time in Cuba before emigrating to the Dominican Republic, where he learnt how to make rum. Today’s very modern distillery, which is equipped with three pairs of column stills for distillation, was built in 1986 in San Pedro de Macoris, but the cellars remained in Puerto Plata. Since 2008, the company’s majority owner has been the Edrington group, which also owns Macallan and Highland Park. The role of Maestro Ronero, however, continues to be played Andrés Brugal’s descendants, Jassil and Gustavo. Alongside Bermudez and Barcelo, Brugal is one of the three Bs of Dominican rum.
