More infoLa Fage is a single varietal Malbec, produced from 30-year-old vines grown on stony, clay soil. Grapes are picked by hand and the berries are individually selected. Vinification is just as meticulous, with a 14-month élevage in barrels already used for one other wine. After 10 years of aging, this wine develops sublimely concentrated fruity, floral and woody notes.
About the Producer Cosse-Maisonneuve
Matthieu Cosse – who also manages the well-known château La Coste in Provence – has been running the Cosse-Maisonneuve domaine with Catherine Maisonneuve since 1999. The 28-hectare vineyard is cultivated biodynamically (with Demeter certification). The vines are mostly made up of Malbec, with some Merlot and Tannat. In the winery, work is done with the same philosophy as in the vineyard: vinifications are as natural as possible (with indigenous yeasts, no fining or filtration, and long, well-controlled élevage). This domain, whose wines impress with their personality and fruitiness, is now a member of the Cahors appellation elite.
