More info

First made in 2017, the Sidérolithe cuvée is a parcel-based micro-cuvée produced from Cabernet Franc vines. These vines grow on a parcel of siderolithic clay, rich in iron, which imparts an unrivalled velvety character to the cuvée. In addition, the vines are tended meticulously according to biodynamic principles. Manual harvests are followed by traditional, low-intervention winemaking. The cuvée is unique in that it is matured for 20 months in two-wine barrels before being carefully bottled.
The ruddy-red colour is enhanced by a heady bouquet bursting with wonderful raspberry aromas, complemented by elegant hints of violet. In the mouth, the fruity aromas blend beautifully into a velvety texture, leading to a lingering, flavoursome finish. This cuvée can be enjoyed while young or after several years of cellaring.

About the Producer Cosse-Maisonneuve

Matthieu Cosse – who also manages the well-known château La Coste in Provence – has been running the Cosse-Maisonneuve domaine with Catherine Maisonneuve since 1999. The 28-hectare vineyard is cultivated biodynamically (with Demeter certification). The vines are mostly made up of Malbec, with some Merlot and Tannat. In the winery, work is done with the same philosophy as in the vineyard: vinifications are as natural as possible (with indigenous yeasts, no fining or filtration, and long, well-controlled élevage). This domain, whose wines impress with their personality and fruitiness, is now a member of the Cahors appellation elite.
