Vino de Espana GT Garrut Partida Creus 2016
The wine
Classed as a table wine, this Spanish cuvée is a single-varietal Trépat cuvée crafted by Partida Creus, a domain expertly led by Massimo and Antonella who fight for the preservation of forgotten, Catalan varietals. A cousin of the better-known Mourvèdre, the varietal used to make this cuvée is the object of thorough care in the vineyard and winery alike. The domain practices biodynamic agriculture and the vinifications are natural.
This wine is bright red in colour. On the palate, it is notably delicate with a fresh and masterful acidity. Since the grape ripens late, it produces a wine in its own image. It should be aged in the cellar for a while before pairing with a fine dish. Something like roasted pork with prunes, red tuna, or homemade ratatouille will be a success at the table.
About the Producer Partida Creus
The domain Partida Creus is owned by Massimo and Antonella, two winemakers who have fought to save long-forgotten grape varieties of Catalonia and bring them back to their former splendor. So as to do that, they farm their vines following biodynamic principles and allow the grapes to their full expression by way of natural vinifications. An unusual domain to keep a close eye on.
