Lot presentation
Courvoisier Of. The Brandy of Napoleon VSOP
The wine
A magnum of Courvoisier VSOP aged for at least four years. We estimate this bottle to be from the 1980s. This version was launched in 1910 to commemorate the house’’s friendship with Napoléon Bonaparte, who visited the warehouses of Louis Gallois and Emmanuel Courvoisier in Bercy in 1811 and also offered his troops in the artillery regiments a cognac ration to keep up morale. He even imported a few casks for his own personal use when exiled on St. Helena Island.
Courvoisier is a cognac brand founded in Jarnac in 1836. It is responsible, among other things, for the appellation Napoléon (who was a great fan of the brand's cognacs).
