South-West | 2023 vintage
Weather conditions
A humid spring, violent hail in June, extreme heat in August, and strong winds created severe challenges, reducing yields by an average of 21%.
Some areas such as Irouléguy and Marcillac were less affected due to altitude and grape variety resilience.
Harvest
Harvest volumes were reduced across much of the region, with significant losses in Madiran, Fronton, and Cahors.
Profile of the wine
Despite lower volumes, quality is attractive. Whites retain freshness and tension, while reds offer silky tannins and crisp fruit, producing balanced and harmonious wines from the better-exposed terroirs.
