Information
The Moreau family was founded in Chablis in the early 20th century: the first parcels were bought in 1904 (Clos des Hospices). It now spans 65 hectares, covering several different appellations in Chablis. The domain also owns several grands crus, including one monopole. Since 1994, Louis Moreau, who represents the 6th generation, is at the helm of this family domain. The wines offer good value for money.
This premier cru from Vaulignot has a certain classicism about it. Harvested by hand, the Chardonnay was then vinified in stainless steel vats with indigenous yeasts. After a malolactic fermentation, the wine was matured on fine lees for 6 months before spending a year in vats. It carries a wonderful freshness that comes through its citrus notes, rounded off with a delicately salty finish.
