Information
The Biscardo family has been producing wine in Venice for over 150 years. Recognised for their prosecco and their soave, brothers Maurizio and Martino Biscardo also make elegant Amarone. This latter kind of wine is made from the Corvina, Molinara and Rondinela varietals. The grapes are harvested late in the season to really concentrate their aromas and colour. Just like a “vin de paille”, the grapes are then placed in slatted, wooden crates for several months. Evaporation then takes place, further intensifying aroma and colour. The wine is then vinified normally. The result is splendid, with a tile-red hue even in its youth. On the nose there is an explosion of candied fruit and delicate aromas of mushroom and earthy notes. On the palate, it is generous with silky tannins. You can count on around 20 years of ageing.
